Jonny Lang

Mom and I went to see Jonny Lang and J.J. Grey last night in Tacoma. We've seen Jonny Lang before, but probably 8-10 years ago. He was just a teenager then, back in Annapolis, MD at the Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival. He was amidst drug and alcohol addiction at the time, and I remember dying for his autograph and he never came out to greet fans (all the other performers did), but mom taught me well and I was able to get a security officer to take my hat to him to sign. Since then we've continued to listen to his music and he's since found a higher power and his music totally reflects it. Clean and sober now and he sings about his spiritual journey.

Anyway, mom and I had FRONT ROW seats at the Emerald Queen Casino. Small venue, not the best acoustics as it's in a tent, but oh my lord, it was so good. J.J. Grey opened who we hadn't heard of before, but he too was phenomenal. Great voice and good band with him. Jonny performed for about two hours, I think mom cried through the first half at least! He put on one hell of a show.

No cameras were allowed in the venue, but fear not, iPhone's to the rescue. I took about 200 on my phone and mom probably took a bit more. I've edited some. The quality isn't the best because no flash, but they're cool regardless.

Tis all for now. I have to work tonight at 6pm. Blah. Work's going well so far, but I'm not enthused about it per se. But, it's a job for now.
